Connecting Across Borders and Closing Gaps
BeyondHIE embodies a boundaryless, patient-centric approach to data. We are dedicated to increasing secure and appropriate access to data to better support cross-border interoperability and existing use cases that Health Information Networks (HIN)s and Health Information Technology (HIT) developers have enabled for their populations. Value-based care and improved patient outcomes cannot become a reality if health data is constrained to a siloed geography.
BeyondHIE supports core sets of data that will be available among networks connected through the Common Agreement for the following exchange purposes: treatment, individual access services, public health, benefits determination, a subset of the HIPAA-defined payment activities (utilization review), and a subset of the HIPAA-defined healthcare operations (quality assessment and improvement, business planning, and development).
One connection to improve efficiency
Decrease costs and improve efficiency by reducing or eliminating the need to join multiple INs, reducing the need for multiple legal agreements, or creating one-off, point-to-point interfaces. BeyondHIE can also provide HINs and HIT developers with a common set of privacy and security requirements for the purpose of protecting patient data, including requirements on identity proofing and authentication.
